Introduction:
Since 1938 the Gospel Hall has been a centre of evangelism and bible teaching in Blairhall and the surrounding villages. Our principles and practices are those taught specifically in the New Testament of the Bible. Our services are simple yet reverent. The teaching is founded entirely on the Bible which we believe to be the inspired Word of God for men and women today.
Our Beliefs:
We believe in the one true God and Creator of all things.
We believe that God exists eternally in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, became man, died for our sins, then rose from the dead.
We believe that man is separated from God by sin but can come back to God by repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour.
We believe that the Bible is the true record of God's dealings with, and requirements for, mankind.
Our Principles:
We are a Church - that is a group of men and women - who have repented from their sin and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour. We now seek to worship and serve God, care for each other and lead others to a saving faith in the Saviour.
We are autonomous (self governing and independant) being subject only to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the Bible (Word of God).
We are governed by Elders - we have no clergy. Our ministry (teaching) is given by those with God-given ability.
Our Practices:
We have a service for the Breaking of Bread (also known as the Lord's supper or Communion) We have this service every Sunday as an act of rememberance, worship and praise and it is our response to the Lord's request that we should remember Him till He comes again.
We practice baptism by immersion for believers, this being a symbolic act by which Christian Believers publicly confess their faith in Christ and their identification with Him in His death, burial and resurrection.
